A Legacy Worth Continuing

The Love Always Equine Sanctuary Successor Mentorship Program

“What if the life you were meant to live was waiting for you — and all you had to do was say yes?”

Imagine waking up every morning with purpose. Surrounded by animals that depend on you. Doing work that genuinely saves lives. Building something that outlasts you.

That’s not a fantasy. That’s what we’ve been living for the past seven years at Love Always Equine Sanctuary — and now, we’re looking for that special person ready to carry it forward.

Our Story

We Built This From the Ground Up

For seven years, Love Always Equine Sanctuary has done what many said couldn’t be done. We built a thriving rescue operation from the ground up — saving horses, building community, and proving that compassion and commitment can move mountains.

We didn’t do it by accident. We did it with a plan. And now, as our founder looks toward a well-earned retirement, we’re doing what we’ve always done: planning ahead.

We are seeking a successor — an individual, a family, a couple, or an organization — who shares our compassion for horses and our commitment to a mission that truly matters. Through our Successor Mentorship Program, we will walk alongside you, transferring knowledge, relationships, and operational expertise, so that when the time comes, you are fully ready to lead.

What This Mentorship Is Designed to Do

Everything We Know, Passed On to You

Transfer Everything We Know

Seven years of hard-won experience doesn’t disappear — it gets passed on. From daily animal care and veterinary protocols to donor relationships, grant writing, and rescue operations.

Secure a Forever Home for Our Animals

The horses and animals in our care have been through enough. A key goal of this mentorship is ensuring every animal currently in our care has a safe, loving, permanent home.

Establish Your Home Base

We are offering the opportunity to purchase our property at 2305 Carmen Road, or to explore transitioning the rescue to a property you own or acquire. What matters is that the mission continues.

The Program

Three Phases of Mentorship

Our mentorship is paced intentionally — recognizing both the depth of what there is to learn and the realities of everyday life. The goal is never to overwhelm, but to ensure you enter this role fully informed and genuinely prepared.

1

Guided Immersion & Foundation

During the first several months, we work closely together to build a strong foundation. You would be included in real conversations and real decisions as they arise — because that is where the most important learning happens.

  • Daily sanctuary operations — meeting each animal and participating in routine care
  • Administrative and organizational systems — how records are kept and decisions documented
  • Animal care logistics — food sourcing, water systems, shelter, seasonal planning, and medical considerations
  • Financial realities — feed, veterinary care, maintenance, emergency reserves, and spending priorities
  • Fundraising responsibilities — what works, what doesn’t, grants and sponsorships
  • Governance and support — the role of a board, essential skill sets, and current gaps
  • 501(c)(3) regulations, NYS tax exemption, and nonprofit compliance
2

Real-World Problem Solving

Beyond daily routines, the true education of running a rescue comes from navigating the unexpected. Animals get sick or injured. Equipment breaks. Fences fail. Weather causes damage. Financial trade-offs must be made.

During this phase, you will be actively involved in evaluating problems, weighing options, and understanding why certain decisions are made over others. This hands-on exposure builds confidence, judgment, and clarity — not just skills. We will also go deeper into every subject introduced in Phase One.

3

Honest Evaluation & Potential Transition

After the first two phases, we will have an open and honest conversation about the future. Together, we will assess:

  • Whether this work feels sustainable and aligned for you and your family
  • Whether continuing the rescue as your own feels like the right next step
  • Whether a potential purchase and transition of the farm is something you would like to explore

This proposal is not meant to rush or pressure — but to open the door to a thoughtful, intentional path forward.

You Don’t Need All the Answers Today

  • Loves horses and animals deeply
  • Wants to serve a mission larger than themselves
  • Is ready to learn, grow, and lead
  • Has the vision — or is willing to develop it — to sustain and expand what we’ve built
